Core facilitation skills - a 1 day course - in-person
A foundation course to equip you with essential tools to support your work with groups.
What does it include?
This one-day training will introduce you to three core facilitation skills and give you a chance to practise these with other participants.
The day goes through four core modules in depth:
Laying the foundations: You’ll learn how to create the conditions for great group work, both before and during an event, to set the group up for success.
Workshop design: we’ll share a model that can help you design meetings, workshops and events, and you’ll have the chance to develop some sample session plans and get feedback from the tutor and group.
The art of asking great questions: you will master the use of open questions to engage groups, fostering fresh thinking and expansive conversations. You’ll learn a facilitation method which uses open questions to structure complex group conversations, and get to practise it within small groups.
Maximising engagement and participation: You’ll learn methods to bake engagement into your event design and overcome common barriers to participation.
Post training support
You will also have access to an exclusive facilitation toolkit, including slides from the course, method cards, check-ins and check-outs, useful resources to build your practice, and links to other toolkits, resources and templates
You’ll also be able to join our monthly free alumni drop in sessions, where you get to continue learning and practicing alongside other course participants.
You’ll also get a certificate of completion and a 15% discount on any future courses you’d like to attend.
At the end of this course, you might then want to go deeper into facilitation with our Facilitation 101 Intensive or Facilitating Strategy.
