Team facilitation training
Do you want to build your team’s capacity and confidence to lead effective meetings, events and workshops?
Facilitation skills are the magic ingredient you need. They can help your team transform stale, unproductive events into engaging, high impact moments for collaboration. We offer…
Bespoke training for your team
Why book group facilitation training?
Our in-house facilitation training equips people with the tools and knowledge they need to effectively guide discussions, workshops and collaborative activities.
When working with groups, people in your team may struggle with:
supporting everyone in the room to actively participate
getting stuck in circular discussions without clear action points
feeling confident when leading events with external clients or stakeholders
adapting to a range of settings, including designing and running complex meetings, workshops, events or conferences.
With a strong emphasis on real-world application, we’ll teach your team facilitation best practices across 11 core skills, and show them how to lead meetings that encourage active participation and meaningful outcomes.
We can deliver group facilitation training online or in person, and each session is shaped to meet your team’s needs.

Who is team facilitation training for?
We’ve trained groups from organisations of all kinds, including charities, universities, social enterprises, trusts, foundations, local authorities and many others.
The fact is, learning facilitation skills can be helpful for anyone who works with groups. In our experience, that includes:
managers and team leaders
people who have externally facing roles (e.g running client workshops, convening partners)
people who lead cross-organisational processes, such as strategy or product development
people who work in service delivery roles with local communities
consultants and advisors who work closely with clients and run group sessions
…and many, many more!
What does the training cover?
Our team training is built around 11 core principles, each covering different areas of facilitation best practice. Click each area below to find out more.
-
We’ll explore how facilitators can use open questions to engage groups. Open questions are a core foundation of coaching and help create fresh thinking and more expansive conversations.
-
We’ll consider how to design events, workshops and meetings to enable everyone to participate actively, in ways that work for them. We’ll also cover how to respond to challenges such as dominant voices, difficult room layout and tech failures.
-
We’ll look at how facilitators can act as a mirror. This includes how the core skills of reflecting back what is happening, and effectively summarising content, can help maintain the focus of the group.
-
We’ll explore the different ways you can work with groups to generate options and ideas. This is one of the most common activities groups want to work on.
-
We’ll cover how to lead a meeting, event or workshop in a way that makes group activities inclusive and accessible for everyone.

We’ll explore how you can facilitate learning and reflection with a group using a range of different methods.

-
We’ll explore how facilitators can visualise content when working with a group, helping participants to make sense of their conversations, ideas and data in a way which moves their thinking forward.

Effective meetings training
The ability to facilitate effective meetings is a crucial skill in any workplace. It can help your team communicate more clearly, collaborate better and get more done.
Our effective meetings training gives people the skills and confidence to lead meetings that support everyone to participate and deliver clear outcomes.

Training plus: extra support
We know that for teams to really embed and use the skills and facilitation best practices they learn in training, they often need extra help. So, we provide a range of support.
1:1 coaching and mentoring
Our experienced facilitators can work with your team members one-to-one to help them design and deliver world class workshops and events. We can offer support to plan sessions or debrief after an event. We could even join them and observe, or co-facilitate, to offer feedback and support.
Monthly
drop-in clinics
Book in some monthly drop-in clinics as a regular, informal, space for your team to troubleshoot practical issues and challenges that arise when facilitating. More light touch than a coaching session, these online sessions can provide ongoing opportunities for teams to apply their skills and learning.
Reflective learning
groups
Our half-day group reflective learning workshops provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on what they’re learning, and any challenges that come up as they apply their facilitation skills. They can also be a space to introduce new facilitation methods that can support group reflective practice.
